When did you join John Zink? What initially attracted you to John Zink?
I joined John Zink in 2023 after receiving multiple job offers. A family friend spoke highly of the company, and I was drawn to its culture and values. I took a chance—and I haven’t looked back.
Can you describe your role at John Zink and what your typical day entails?
A cornerstone of working at John Zink is understanding that we all have a role to play, but we are more than our defined roles. Within my official job title, “Project Coordinator – Flare and TO,” I work with the flare and thermal oxidizer project management team to ensure the successful execution of projects. A typical day involves monitoring system signals, communicating with our internal stakeholders, and doing what needs to be done to maintain momentum.
However, my role at John Zink goes beyond that. Every day, I work with others to help solve hurdles they may encounter in their day-to-day tasks—sharing knowledge, working with vision, and seeing tasks through to completion. No matter how small the task, if it’s important to them, it’s important to me.
I am lucky to work with such a supportive and wonderful team, and I want them to always know how grateful I am to have them.
Can you describe a time when a colleague’s support made a significant difference in your professional journey?
One moment stands out—December 2023. I opened a note from a coworker that read: "Thank you for your positive demeanor. You may not hear it, but we lean on it more often than you know."
That reminder of how small actions can have a big impact has stuck with me ever since.
How would you describe the culture at John Zink? Can you provide an example of a moment that embodies this culture?
It’s a culture of support and knowledge-sharing. We invest in each other, hold each other accountable, and challenge processes for continuous improvement. When we push each other to grow, the business grows too.
If you could give a TED Talk on one thing you’ve learned at John Zink, what would it be? Why?
"Think outside your box, not the box."
We’re often told to think outside the box for creativity, but we each have our own mental box—formed by our experiences, skills, and assumptions. Learning to think beyond it helps us make better decisions, collaborate more effectively, and gain new perspectives.
Which PBM principle resonates with you the most, and how do you apply it in your role to create value?
The PBM principle that resonates the most with me is Vision. A clear vision provides motivation, direction, and alignment. Whether I’m leading a project or assisting a team, I always ask: What is being accomplished? What is the desired outcome? What does good look like? Defining the vision upfront leads to better collaboration and stronger results.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future direction of John Zink? How do you see your role evolving?
John Zink keeps evolving—both as a business and in how it invests in employees. I truly feel like a valued partner here. The company continuously supports my development, encourages me to explore my interests, and helps me align my career with my passions. I look forward to growing my skills and role within the company.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Somewhere far from cities and light pollution, where I can see the night sky in its full brilliance. As a kid, I dreamed of being an astronaut, fascinated by space and the mysteries of the universe. I’d love to see the stars, nebulas, and galaxies as clearly as possible—just as I imagined them growing up.
