Classes are limited to the first 35 registrants per session. Early registration is encouraged to guarantee your seat in these one-of-a-kind courses.

Process Burner Fundamentals (PB116)

This course provides introductory knowledge of the essential theory and practical application of process burners. The course is designed for engineers, operators, maintenance, safety and training personnel from hydrocarbon and chemical processing plants around the world. Topics discussed include combustion safety, burner installation/maintenance, heat transfer, fuels, troubleshooting and service and CFD modeling. This course is eligible for 1.4 CEUs, per IACET.

Process Flare Fundamentals (FL117)

This course provides an introduction into the selection, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of offshore and onshore flare systems. It outlines the many different technologies available and the types of application for each. As an attendee, you will learn how to control smoke, noise, radiation and flame luminosity, as well as how to accurately evaluate the economics of replacements and retrofits. Topics discussed include thermal radiation, combustion efficiency, smoke control, flare selection, flare upgrades, flare pilots, ignition and detection systems and various flare types. This course is eligible for 0.7 CEUs, per IACET.

Thermal Oxidizers Operations (TO126)

This course focuses on gaseous and liquid waste thermal oxidizers and covers a broad range of thermal oxidation topics beginning with associated combustion basics and advancing through the fundamental systems types – sulfur, low NOx, chlorinated and down-fired/salt. The course addresses CFD modeling, pre- and post-treatment, alternative technologies and control systems. Topics discussed include design guidelines, instrumentation and controls, waste types, pollution emissions, equipment components, fume and vent systems, oxidizer maintenance and aftermarket services. This course is eligible for 0.7 CEUs, per IACET.

This course provide basic industrial and utility boiler designs as they apply to burner application. List the basic components and functionality of common boiler burner designs. This course is eligible for 0.7 CEUs, per IACET.

Once you have registered for a course through the KES Institute, you will receive hotel information in your confirmation packet. We highly recommend that you reserve your room at our preferred hotel during your stay and network with other participants attending the class. The guaranteed reserved block of KES Institute rooms generally closes two weeks prior to the first day of class.
