TULSA, Okla., Sept., 10, 2003 - John Zink Company, LLC recently unveiled its new industrial-scale flare testing facility, the largest of its kind in the world. This state-of-the-art facility is the cornerstone of John Zink's ongoing commitment to improve the science of flare performance.

Zink's flare testing facility accommodates a wide range of fuels and flow rates, with sophisticated flow control and automated data acquisition systems, and redundant safety systems. This expansive test facility is capable of simulating a wide range of operating conditions for accurate, measured performance that is impossible to achieve in the field.

Zink's flare test facility is used for developing new designs with enhanced performance, and characterizing the effectiveness of existing technologies. This includes extending established technologies to new applications such as increasing the operating range of an accepted design.

A variety of flare designs can be tested for performance in smokeless capacity, purge rate required, blower horsepower or steam requirements for assisted flares, tip longevity, radiation, and noise.

While other methods exist for evaluating the effectiveness of large flares, full-scale testing remains the most accurate due to the complexity of the process. With its comprehensive flare test facility Zink will be able to respond to the growing demand to achieve larger smokeless capacities from flares and ensure the absence of design flaws.
