John Zink Company, LLC Hosts 2003 International Flare Symposium
Event Marks the Official Opening of the Largest Flare Test Facility of its Kind in the World
TULSA, Okla., June 16, 2003 - The John Zink Company, LLC, a leading provider of advanced combustion systems and pollution control technologies worldwide, hosted an international contingent of flare emissions experts and professionals at the 2003 International Flare Symposium June 11-12. The two-day event featured technical presentations led by a number of the world's foremost experts on flare emissions and performance.
The speaker panel included Bruce Davis, consultant, air quality technology, DuPont Engineering Technology; Peter Gogolek, scientist and project leader, flare test facility, Natural Resources Canada; Jim Seebold, retired technical advisor, ChevronTexaco; John Pohl, research professor, Alexandria Research Institute, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and Karen Olson, senior technical specialist, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
The John Zink International Research and Development Test Center is the most advanced industrial-scale flare testing facility in the world and was the site of live demonstrations of the latest flare and pilot technologies, innovations in open flame and enclosed flaring.
"We have greatly expanded our flare testing capabilities to provide the facilities necessary to develop and characterize leading edge flare technology," said Dr. Roberto Ruiz, vice president technology and commercial development at John Zink.
Enlargement of the flare testing capabilities is the latest expansion of Zink's test center and includes state-of-the-art computerized flow control equipment, automated data collection, and the ability to develop new and improved equipment, prove performance of full-scale tips and characterize existing flare technologies under a wide range of actual operating conditions.
