John Zink Company Announces Publication of The John Zink® Combustion Handbook
TULSA, Okla. (April 11, 2001) - There is a new definitive resource for combustion technology information from the people who have been setting the standard for over 70 years, John Zink Company, LLC. The John Zink Combustion Handbook, published by CRC Press, is an exhaustive work dedicated to improved understanding and advancement of the art and science of industrial combustion.
Under the leadership of Charles E. Baukal, Jr., director of the John Zink Company Research and Development Test Center, top combustion engineers and technologists have joined forces in what appears destined to become a landmark work. "Our goal was to create an indispensable volume that would be the number one resource for combustion information in the industry. Thanks to the combined efforts of over 30 engineers and thousands of hours of hard work, I believe we have succeeded," Baukal said. "The color photos and figures make it the equivalent of National Geographic for combustion."
The John Zink Combustion Handbook offers both a general reference on combustion and a detailed reference on industrial combustion for the chemical, hydrocarbon, petrochemical, and power generation industries. The book presents basic theories from the relevant disciplines - combustion, heat transfer and fluid flow - and explores specific equipment design issues and applications in the process and power generation industries. In addition to being informative, the volume also sets a new standard in design and readability. The full-color volume contains nearly 700 figures and over 100 tables.
"John Zink Company is committed to education. This is demonstrated through projects like The John Zink Combustion Handbook and ongoing programs like the John Zink Burner, Flare, Vapor and Thermal Oxidizer Schools," said Stephen Pirnat, president of John Zink Company, LLC. "It's all about sharing knowledge from the minds that shape the industry. We consider it a responsibility as well as a passion."
Charles E. Baukal, Jr. is director of the John Zink Company R&D Test Center, a world-renowned combustion test facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has authored nearly 60 technical publications and holds eight U.S. patents in the fields of enhanced gas cooling of metals, oxygen-enhanced combustion, and gas injection.
A world leader in combustion technologies since its founding in 1929, John Zink Company employs more than 300 engineers and technical experts specially trained in the areas of fuel handling, combustion processes, environmental controls, mechanical and structural design, process control and safety. For decades, engineers and operators from process plants around the world have attended intensive training sessions in the art and science of combustion and air quality control at the John Zink Burner, Flare, Vapor and Thermal Oxidizer Schools.
