Laser Diagnostics - PDPA


In every research environment, it's vital to quantify performance. Accurate measurements and in-depth analysis provide the data to improve performance. The research and development engineers at John Zink Company use state-of-the-art tools and instrumentation along with quantified data to develop the next generation of combustion technology.

Zink uses a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) with a He-Ne laser to characterize the droplet size and distribution of spray gun designs. Specifically, the PDPA was used to develop our new HEROTM oil gun technology, which uses 35 to 50% less steam while reducing NOx by 20 to 30%.
