R&D Capabilities
John
Zink Company's research and development team brings a collective experience
of more than 200 years to one focused mission - to provide the highest
value through innovative technology that enhances
our customers' knowledge base and creation strategies.
Zink invests heavily in advanced equipment, instrumentation and advanced problem-solving
techniques to help us develop the next generation of combustion
technology.
Our R&D group brings diverse specializations in the fundamental and practical aspects of combustion, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combustion diagnostics, heat transfer, furnace operation, and burner, flare and thermal oxidizer design and operation.
Our capabilities include several dual-processor workstations for our CFD modeling,
featuring state-of-the-art software such as Fluent, ACERC and Star-CD
codes. The workstations are networked to provide computational throughput
comparable to new supercomputers. We also utilize a phase doppler particle
analyzer that uses a He-Ne laser to characterize sprays; infrared and
ultraviolet cameras and furnace heat transfer and emissions diagnostics;
and other instrumentation to develop combustion solutions for today's
and tomorrow's toughest applications.
