Gas or Liquid Waste - Produces Cl2/HCl and NOx
Wastes are supplied to a disposal process in the form of either gas,
liquid or solid, or a combination thereof. Figure 4 is an example of a
process to dispose of either a gas or liquid that produces a flue gas containing
Cl2/HCl and excessive amounts of NOx. Recycled flue gas cooling is an integral
part of this process to maximize heat recovery.

If the chlorine-bearing waste streams are separate from nitrogen-bearing
waste streams, the chlorine stream can be admitted directly to the thermal oxidizer. The
segregation of streams would result in a smaller reduction furnace and, for endothermic wastes,
would reduce the amount of auxiliary fuel used. |
