Drain the drum completely. |

Inspect inside the bottom head of drum for accumulated solids. |

Remove any accumulated solids. |
| Caution: Follow safe vessel-entry procedures as required by plant standards. |

Inspect liquid seal internals for accumulated solids, cracks, plugging or other obvious damage. Clean and repair as required. |

Check level instruments per vendor information. |

Check physical liquid level in the gauge glass on a regular schedule. |
| 2.0 |
Check level-control instruments with gauge glass level. |
| 3.0 |
Skim any accumulated hydrocarbon liquids from the surface of the liquid on a regular schedule. |
| 4.0 |
Monitor pH of seal fluid, checking waste gas for any acidic or alkaline compounds. |
| 5.0 |
Treat or replace seal fluid before pH becomes corrosive to vessel metallurgy. |
